TO BE OR NOT TO BE ALONE

Sadness weighs heavy on my heart
my friend is gone
I am alone
One bears the load now we're apart
each step, a groan
the burden, stone

Where is his laughter, where his smile
I search in vain
whisper his name
Long is the road, I trudge each mile
the hunt no gain
tis not the same

Time passes empty, hours long
my spirit low
I miss him so
Walking in silence, still my song
why did he go
never to know

Hearing his voice in every room
memories there
he's everywhere
Trembling, my fingers touch the rune
grinding stair
going nowhere

Blacker than midnight, shield in hand
my armor blue
memories too
High on the mountaintop I stand
we shared this view
glorious, new

If I stepped out, how long the fall
pain so brief
a broken thief
Poised on the brink -- to end it all?
end this grief
then...dark relief

Lifting my gaze, I search the Lands
beauty strong
my home so long
If I do die, not by my hands
right or wrong
renew my song
